![]() It really depends on the approach.įinally, make sure you switch to VOR mode via the 530 when you want to switch to the APR/VOR ILS Frequency. Now, there are times when the GS indicator is displayed earlier, and which time I may skip the VOR mode, and go directly to APR mode. I stay in VOR mode until I see the GS indicator show up on the 55x, and only then do I then hit APR, which will them provide GS guidance. As soon as I see horizontal movement on the VOR1/HSI gauge, indicating that I am intercepting the ILS frequency, I change to VOR mode to intercept the ILS frequency which will turn me towards the RWY heading. I do use ALT to make sure I am entering the ILS pattern at the correct altitude at my initial Fix per the terminal chart. If I have Alt guidance through my AP, I never select ALT after hitting APR, as that would/could disconnect the GS mode. you can replace with the selector.Īs far as the ILS, do you have the VOR1 'dialed to' the ILS frequency? If you have, it should provide horizontal guidence to the RWY, but without the Altitude feature integrated, it will not provide verticle guidance, and you would have to accomplish that by hand using the GS insication on your VOR 1 or HSI gauge. In order to install the altitude selector, you have to find an 'empty space' on the panel that will accept it, of find a gauge, switch, etc. This occurs on both GPS and ILS approaches. Then when on the final approach course, select NAV APR, ALT and so long as I am below the glideslope, the STEC would capture the GS and fly the plane down to the runway.Īlso, if use the HDG to fly the plane on the final approach course and then try to select APR, the plane just goes hay wire and starts turning away from the intended course. ![]() I have read the documentation and I don't have a clue how to set this up.Īlso, when I am flying an approach, I was taught to fly to the IAP fix using the heading bug. It states it needs the ST 360 altitude selector to have full altitude functionality. However, the manual states that the STEC will work without the "other" gauges in a limited mode. I am flying the Mooney which is "pre-configured" for the S-Tec per the manual. ![]() I have purchased and installed in MS FSX the Reality XP GNS 530 WAAS and the Reality XP Flightline N™ analogue gauge which includes the S-TEC 55X. ![]()
